Lighting Demo And Talks At The Wincanton Camera Club

We are delighted to announce 2 exciting events that we have planned at the Wincanton Camera Club. Non-Members of the club are welcome, with a £5 on the door charge. So, if you’re in the area and want a little insight in to Astro-Photography, (event 1), or Studio Portraiture with smoke machines and gels, (event 2), it’d be great to see you there!

Astrophotography Talk with Hannah Rochford

For the first talk Hannah, who has worked for AJ’s over the last ten years, will share her expert knowledge of the highly technical world of Astrophotography. Hannah, a formal Falmouth University alumni, started astrophotography several years ago with great success. In her first year she soon become an expert, and won the Award for Astronomy Photographer of the Year Best Newcomer at the Royal Greenwich International Awards 2022. She has since had her astrophotography featured on Nasa’s shot of the day and has presented a series of masterclasses for the BBC Sky at Night online.

Portraiture with Smoke Machines and Gels with Mark Pickthall

Wednesday 16th April 7:30pm

Wincanton Memorial Hall

For the second talk we are delighted to have Andrew Dibben and professional photographer Mark Pickthall demonstrate various Profoto lighting setups with a model using the PMI smoke machine and Profoto Gels. The camra will be tethered to a computer so you'll be able to see the shots taken on-screen straight away.

Remember to bring along your camera, because we'll have various Profoto triggers to use with your camera so you'll have the opportunity to try out some of the kit and techniques yourself!
